Flash Fiction – Tim’s Imaginary Friend

Tim had always had an imaginary friend. For hours at a time, the young boy would chat to his make-believe chum about his dreams and aspirations.

Every evening, Tim knelt by the side of his bed and thanked his imaginary friend for all of the things that he had done for him that day.

But as Tim grew older, he began to have doubts about his made-up buddy. As the years passed, Tim slowly began to realise that having an imaginary friend that you talk to and ask for things and thank when something good happens in your life was idiotic.

Tim no longer has an imaginary friend – and is now what is known as an ‘atheist’.
